Know Before You Show! Check out the USHJA rules affecting Hunter/Jumper competition taking effect Dec. 1, 2017. For example: Distracted Riding: These rule changes now prohibit the use of any device with ear bud(s) while mounted in all Hunter or Jumper schooling areas in order to reduce distractions and promote safety.

Winner of the 1st Annual Barn Basket contest was Shadow Creek with their entry of "All the Greatest Grooming Secrets and Barn Hacks." The winning bid was a whopping $200! They will receive a gift to be proudly displayed during 2018 horse shows.
Congratulations to all the award recipients announced at the 2017 MHJA Awards Banquet. A great turn-out, good food, and great company was enjoyed by all.

The Annual MHJA Open Meeting is fast upon us! Join the Board at Arbor HIll Farm, this Saturday, Nov 4, from 3-6 pm for a few hours of fun and information! Whether it's the formation of a Junior Board, parents learning "everything you need to know about horse showing", the MHJA learning about your expectations of our Association, or entering a Pony Hop Race...come join the fun! Bring a dish to share as we will end with a potluck dinner (main course to be provided by MHJA.)

OPENINGS REMAIN for Robert Splain Clinic September 8th-10th. Hosted by Kopet-Dag Akhal-Teke Farm, the clinic will be held at JF Stables located in Detroit Lakes, MN. Splaine was the official coach of the Irish Show-Jumping Team for 11 years and has also competed at an international level. In March, he was replaced as chef d'equipe by Rodrigo Pessoa.

CORRECTION: we missed including Emily Clemens as a participant in the Zone 5-6 CH/Adult Amateur Jumper Finals at Balmoral. She anchored her team and rode two clear rounds on Saturday to help them place 4th in the overall competition. Congratulations, Emily!

NEWS FLASH: Congratulations to Courtney Dickinson and Flying Girl for riding to a Silver Medal finish in the Zone 6 Jr/AO Jumper Championship at Balmoral Park! They rode without a single fault all week!

NEWS FLASH: Elzabeth Lampert served as the Chef d'Equipe for Zone 6 at the USHJA Regional Children’s and Adult Hunter Championships in OK City. All putting in great rounds, Amelia Batson helped the combined Zone 6/7 team take home a Gold Medal with Zoe Lampert riding to assist the Zone 6 Team take the Silver Medal. In the three phases of individual competition, Amelia clenched 5th place, overall, and Zoe received 8th, overall, in a very competitive field. Lindsay Vail, riding on the combined Zone 6/7 Adult Amateur team, contributed to a silver medal in that section. She ended up 5th overall, individually.
The Children's/Adult Hunter Championship program continues to improve each year. It was great to see a stronger representation from Zone 6, and we hope this great program continues to grow with both juniors and adults including it in their future goals. Well done Zone 6!!
