Emerson-Burr Horsemanship Results 2021

Thank you and Congratulations to the seven Zone 6 Pony riders who took part in the 2021 Emerson-Burr Horsemanship Grant Exam at the Minnesota Harvest Horse Show on Saturday, October 9.  Zone 6 junior pony riders were invited to take a written exam of 15 questions and an essay response for the chance to win a $100 grant to be used toward equestrian-related expenses in one of four age groups.

Winners are invited to participate in the second section of the exam at next year's Pony Finals in Kentucky.  Participants were able to test their knowledge and skills over a wide range of questions including equine terminology, riding skills, course design, equine mangagement, confirmation, and tack.  We had representatives from Golden Gate Equestrian Center, Skyrock Farm, Arbor Hill Farm, Harvest Hill Farm, and Stonewall Farm.  The questions were difficult, and our test-takers did an excellent job testing their knowledge and writing beautiful essays.

Our winners are:

Ages 9-11  Gabrielle Lewis, Arbor Hill Farm

Ages 12-14  Kaitlyn Lancell Bates, Stonewall Farm

Ages 15-17  Maya Thomas, Stonewall Farm

Special congratulations to Gabrielle Lewis for a perfect score of 15 out of 15 questions correct!  The future is bright for our horse community if these juniors are any indication of how things are going!

Thanks again to our participants and to our supporters, CWD Saddlery, Showplace Productions, and the Plaid Horse.
