MEMBERSHIP OVERVIEW (Horseman's Directory: See Page Bottom)

When you join the Minnesota Hunter & Jumper Association, you become part of an active, engaged and enthusiastic group of equestrians. Our recognized shows begin in May and culminate with the Minnesota Harvest Horse Show in October. There are frequent schooling shows to get you ready for the show season, or simply keep you challenged in your riding skills.

 

No matter what type of membership you select, you are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Easy access to online Prize Lists, Entry Forms and Show Schedules for all MHJA-sanctioned A rated Recognized shows

  • Schooling (Outreach) show information

  • Participation in the online and print Horseman's Directory

  • Notification of Clinics

  • Listing in the Membership Directory – printed & online (names only)

  • Eligible for Year-End Awards for Competing Members

  • Invitation to the annual Awards Banquet

  • Opportunity to participate in the organization

Choosing and Applying for Your Membership 

 

Choose from two (2) types of individual memberships to fit your needs (see below.) Decide which one is right for you and APPLY ONLINE by clicking on your selected membership type. 

INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION MEMBERSHIP:  $60 YEAR

This membership is right for you if:

  • You are an owner whose horse(s) currently competes in MHJA recognized competitions and want your horse(s) to be eligible for MHJA year End Awards in hunters and jumpers.

  • You are a rider who currently competes in MHJA recognized competitions and you want to be eligible for MHJA Year End Awards in Equitation, including Opportunity classes.

  • You want to be eligible for year-end awards and prizes. (You must show at a minimum of 1 MHJA Recognized Horse Shows during the Competition Year.)

  • NEW - For Year End award points to count, for Hunters and Jumpers: BOTH the owner of the horse AND the rider of the horse must be an MHJA Competing Member.

  • For Equitation, only the Rider must be an MHJA Competing member.

 

INDIVIDUAL SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP:  $40 YEAR

Choose this membership type if:

  • You want to provide support to MHJA

  • You do not plan to show your horse(s) at MHJA recognized competitions, or your horses may be shown, but they will not be eligible for MHJA Year-End Awards.

  • You do not plan to compete at MHJA recognized competitions and thus will not be eligible for MHJA Year End Awards in Equitation.

  • You will be showing at fewer than three MHJA recognized competitions. If you do decide to show at more than two competitions, your horse(s) and you will not be eligible for MHJA Year-End Awards.

  • You may be a trainer, rider, professional or other person interested in the MHJA, but either do not own any horse(s) or do not wish your horses or yourself to be eligible for any MHJA Year-End Awards. 

 

MEMBERSHIP YEAR

 

The official membership year runs from December 1 to November 30, matching the USEF and USHJA membership years.

  • Membership becomes active on its postmark date if mailed or date received by a representative of the MHJA if hand delivered.

  • All memberships expire on November 30, regardless of the date activated.

  • The prior year's membership list will be purged on April 1, 2024. If you have not renewed or have joined by then, you will not receive any more mailings or be listed in the current year's directory.

  • The MHJA sends reminders before the April 1 deadline. It is the member’s responsibility to make sure all the membership requirements are met for eligibility for awards.

The Horseman's Directory is a place for Trainers and and other services to advertise in the quarterly MHJA newsletter and/or the online Horseman's Directory. You may renew or apply online. Directions are included on the form.
